Longtime Crimson Sox radio broadcaster Joe Castiglione broadcasts retirement following 42 seasons
NEW YORK — Boston Crimson Sox radio broadcaster Joe Castiglione mentioned Sunday he’s retiring on the finish of the season, his forty second calling the workforce’s video games.
Castiglione, 77, made the announcement on the WEEI broadcast because the Crimson Sox batted within the fourth inning towards the New York Yankees.
Castiglione will stay with the workforce in an honorary ambassador position. The Crimson Sox will honor him earlier than their regular-season finale on Sept. 29 towards Tampa Bay.
Castiglione joined Boston’s broadcast crew in 1983 in the course of the ultimate season for Corridor of Fame outfielder Carl Yastrzemski and is the longest tenured play-by-play announcer in workforce historical past.
